The UK’s treasured chain, Wetherspoon is set to open a new pub here at The Sidings this summer.
Wetherspoon is to invest approximately £2.5 million on development, generating a total of 120 full and part-time jobs.
The pub will be named, The Lion and the Unicorn, a reference to the Festival of Britain which was held very close to The Sidings in 1951. The festival was hosted in the heart of the South Bank back in 1951 and showcased Britain’s arts, architecture, science and technology.
You will be able to find ‘Spoons’ on the upper ground floor right next to BrewDog – so it’s pints all round at Waterloo’s Social Side this summer!
Wetherspoon chairman and founder, Tim Martin, said: “ We are looking forward to opening our new pub at The Sidings, Waterloo station. We are confident it will appeal to a wide range of people and be a great asset to the station itself.”
Wetherspoon has become a fixture of British pub culture, offering affordable food and drink in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. The Sidings new pub will offer all the classic favourites on the menu, from a full fry up in the morning to their iconic cocktail pitchers to take you through to the evening, and everything in between.
