Christmas at The Sidings

26 November 2024

We often write articles about the amazing things happening all around the South Bank area because we are so lucky to have it all on our doorstep. However, with so much happening here at The Sidings this Christmas, we thought we’d dedicate this article to what is happening here over the festive period.

The Sidings invites visitors to ‘Meet Me By The Baubles’ this Christmas

This Christmas, get ready for an eye-catching festive installation: giant red Christmas baubles!

You won’t be able to miss these oversized ornaments right outside The Sidings in Waterloo Station – making them the perfect place to meet up with friends before kicking off a festive get-together in one of the centre’s many venues. Whilst you’re there, they make the perfect backdrop to a holiday selfie. The giant baubles are the star attraction of The Sidings, offering a bold, creative take on traditional Christmas decor. Whether you’re dashing to your train or heading out for Christmas gatherings, make time to stop by and capture a moment in front of the baubles. The Sidings will be sharing any photos on social media, just tag @sidingswaterloo. It’s the perfect way to spread holiday cheer plus, you might just get featured on the page too!

So, grab your friends, family, or even your morning coffee and head over to the baubles for a moment of Christmas magic before heading into The Sidings for a fantastic festive get-together.

Santa’s Grotto

You cannot celebrate all things Christmas without including a visit to Santa’s Grotto to see the man all dressed in red. Our very own BrewDog has created a hidden Grotto that you can access by booking your ticket online.

It’s perfect for the whole family, the kids get to meet Father Christmas and take home a gift to celebrate the occasion, but the parents are not forgotten. You are, after all, in the biggest BrewDog in the world, so they always have a craft beer twist.

Not only can you grab festive drinks and food whilst you visit, but why not make a day of it and head to the ice cream van and then do a little bowling.

You can book Grotto tickets up until 23rd December. It’s £16 per child and free for adults to join.

Festive Menu Time

One of our favourite things around Christmas is the special drinks and meals that companies release for the holidays and we certainly have a couple of great examples for you.

Black Sheep Coffee has released its festive menu and it includes highlights like White Mint Choc Matcha and a Gingerbread Matcha. In the food section, you’ll find a special Brie and Cranberry toastie and a loaded festive feast sandwich, packed with turkey breast, crispy streaky bacon, fresh spinach, cranberry sauce, and a gravy-stuffing mayo spread.

If you head to The Lion and The Unicorn pub, they will be serving a Turkey dinner with all the trimmings. They have bought back one of the hits from last year, the big cheeseburger – Brie slices, topped with Halloumi fries and a blue cheese side dip! Talking of burgers, you can also pick a chicken & stuffing burger or for a plant-based option, they have the Beyond Meat patty.

To finish you off, they offer a cookies & cream blondie – we challenge you to visit and not order this!

Sing for your supper

If you are looking for a fun venue for a group of friends to have that special pre-Christmas get-together, how about cocktails and singing your heart out? We thought that would grab your attention.

The lovely people at Lucky Voice are the perfect hosts for a Christmas party. Personally, we recommend the 2-hour karaoke session and the festive pizzas as the ideal combination – plus a few special cocktails to get everyone going. With over 11,000 songs to choose from, including a Christmas playlist, you won’t struggle to find your song.

Something for everyone

Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten that Christmas is a time of giving – we have plenty of options to get the special gift.

Looking for a bottle of something special? Pop along to Sainsbury’s, which has a large selection to choose from.

Chocolates are never a bad idea at Christmas and Neuhaus has some delightful selection boxes to wow even the most hard to cater for friend. And could we suggest you get yourself the advent calendar whilst you are there? With 25 individual moments of delights in each calendar, it would be rude not to.

Finally, for something a little different, head to Kiehls and chat with the knowledgeable staff about getting the ideal product for that special person. They can advise you on what options you have and how to select a product that will make the gifting hero this Christmas.

There you have it, places to eat, drink, sing, buy a gift or visit Santa – we did say we have everything covered for you this Christmas at The Sidings!
