Halloween on the South Bank

4 October 2024

Whilst the Americans might have perfected Halloween, we Brits are increasingly embracing this annual tradition and in particular venues all across the country will put on special horror-themed nights to celebrate.

Over here on the South Bank, we have some pretty special Halloween activities and events for you to sample. This must be our cue to launch into a list of the best places to visit on the South Bank this Halloween.

Experience a Seance

Just around the corner from The Sidings is the true home of Halloween in this area, The London Dungeons. They are celebrating 50 years as the place to go for Halloween and we couldn’t really start this list anywhere else.

From October 18th and included within your normal ticket price, guests are invited to a seance, where you will gather around a Ouija board and summon Mary Ann Cotton, a notorious 19th century murderer.

Experience the horror as she returns to the mortal realm and get ready to be plunged into darkness and reveal mysterious levitations alongside blood-curdling screams! It’s THE immersive experience this Halloween.

Nightmare in Joker House

Bingo, UK Garage and Halloween – now that sounds like a strange combination, but stick with us and we promise you a night you’ll never forget.

Let us educate you if you’ve never heard of UKG Bingo before. It’s a night of banging tunes, reliving the glory days of UK Garage, all whilst playing bingo. It’s one of the most unusual and enjoyable nights you’ll experience. And now they’ve added a Halloween theme at Between The Bridges.

The entire place is decked out with a Halloween theme and they encourage everyone to dress accordingly, including scary make-up, to ensure a cracking night of music, scares and of course, bingo…

Horror Classics on the Big Screen

Few things scream Halloween more than a good horror movie and with the iconic British Film Institute on the South Bank, that has to be one of your potential nights out.

This year they have picked an all-time classic, a film starring one of the most famous horror actors ever and one you might not have heard of.

Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining is a modern masterpiece based on Stephen King’s horror novel. The Witchfinder General stars Vincent Price in another of his great horror performances and then we have Blood on Satan’s Claw in which an 18th century English village encounters a demonic possession.

If you are a horror fan they definitely have you covered.

Scared Shrekless

One of the most popular attractions on the South Bank is Shreks Adventure and for the last couple of years, they have created a special event for Halloween called Scared Shrekless.

Alongside the usual fun featuring 12 fairytale themed live shows and being wisked away to Far Far Away abroad a magic bus, the wicked witch is lurking.

She will be around and about, full of tricks and treats for the whole family. If you are lucky, you might even snap a photo with the witch before she flies away.

The Monster Mash Bowling Bash

We’ve saved the best till last, with an event for all the family that will entertain adults and kids. It’s time for Halloween fun at BrewDog!

The BrewDog Monster Mash Bowling Bash is going to run from October 28th to November 3rd and is stacked with offers and cool things to do.

Firstly, for just £10, your little monsters get 30 minutes of bowling, a Halloween-themed ice cream treat, and a scavenger hunt! Kids will search around the venue for a secret word & a sweet reward at the end.

In addition to that, kids will eat FREE during the event. This offer is so good that we expect a lot of people, so we strongly advise you to pre-book. Talking of offers, if you arrive early (before midday), then you can enjoy bowling for FREE.

On 30th October and 1st November, you can join the Halloween-themed arts and crafts rooms for no extra charge and even pop to see their face painter to really get you looking spooky.

Finally, on 29th October, they are hosting a special trivia night with a creepy twist. It’s a chance to bring your friends and test out your spooky knowledge. They encourage fancy dress for this evening, so dress to impress!

We love Halloween here at The Sidings, so please head on down to the South Bank and let us know what was your favourite event.
